I have been trail riding at Dead Broke Farm several times since Fall 2010 and each time reaffirmed my good impression of the horses, the staff, and their mission of saving rescue horses. The horses are the most fit of any trail horse I've ridden. They are gentle but responsive to commands - unlike many trail horses who only follow the horse in front of them. The sheer number and variety of horses at Dead Broke are incredible. So far I've seen Thoroughbreds, a Standardbred, a Tennessee Walking Horse, and an Arabian. Because of my weight, it's been 8 years since I had ridden. When I first called Dead Broke, I was really calling to ask their weight restriction thinking it would be a motivator to help me lose. Image my joy to hear that I could ride right away. So far I've ridden several of Dead Broke's draft horses with my favorite so far being Holly, a Belgian. I am just thrilled to have found such a wonderful place to ride.
