My wife wanted to treat me to a ride for our four year anniversary. She knew I missed riding but I would only frequent an establishment that takes care of their animals. She took me to Dead Broke Farm and it was great. We signed up for a two hour ride which would let us see most if not all of the animals and property. I was given this beautiful, well taken care of draft horse named Amber. My wife and I rode under the watchful eye of our guide. Our guide was experienced and cheerful. We spent most of the ride talking and asking questions about the farm and its animals. Along the ride we spotted several wild turkeys and deer galore that would stand within 5 feet of us, just watching us warily. The other animals were just as taken care of and it is a place I will go back to. I grew up riding and worked on a cattle ranch, this was exactly what I expected it to be. It is not for you if you are a preppy looking for a petting zoo, although I imagine they would let you come out and just feed and brush the animals. I can't wait for a nice cool ride in the fall.
